Damping Rate of a Scalar Particle in Hot Scalar Qed

In contrast to the damping of partons in a quark-gluon plasma, the damping of a scalar particle in a hot scalar QED plasma can be calculated to leading order for the whole momentum range using the Braaten-Pisarski method. In this way the evolution of the logarithmic infrared singularity caused by the exchange of a transverse photon from soft to hard momenta can be studied. The damping rates of ...

Chaos Driven by Soft-Hard Mode Coupling in Thermal Yang-Mills Theory

We argue on a basis of a simple few mode model of SU(2) Yang-Mills theory that the color off-diagonal coupling of the soft plasmon to hard thermal excitations of the gauge field drives the collective plasma oscillations into chaotic motion despite the presence of the plasmon mass. Chaotic Monopole Interactions and Vacuum Disorder

Deterministic chaos in the time evolution of classical non-Abelian (and hence nonlinear) gauge theories has been investigated for about thirty years1. This ongoing endeavour has several motivations. On the more conceptual side, the chaotic behavior of gauge theories reveals typical signatures of quantum chaos, visible e.g. in the distribution of nearest-neighbor level spacings of lattice Dirac ...

Thermalization and Lyapunov Exponents in the Yang-Mills-Higgs Theory

We investigate thermalization processes occurring at different time scales in the Yang-Mills-Higgs system at high temperatures. We determine the largest Lyapunov exponent associated with the gauge fields and verify its relation to the perturbatively calculated damping rate of a static gauge boson. 12.38.Mh, 11.15.Kc Typeset using REVTEX 1
